Best Ways to Use TAP Air Portugal Miles&Go

TAP Air Portugal is the state-owned flagship airline of Portugal that made its first-ever flight from Lisbon to Madrid in 1946. They’ve been a Star Alliance member since 2005 and now operate flights to more than 90 destinations in 37 countries across North America, South America, Africa and Europe. The carrier’s main hub and headquarters are in Lisbon with secondary hubs in Madeira and Porto.

If you’re from the United States, you may not have ever heard of TAP Air Portugal, much less are a member of the TAP Miles&Go frequent-flyer program.

Dirt Cheap $650 Flat-Bed Business Fare, Europe to USA, Sept thru May

I tweeted this deal first from @MileValueAlerts. Follow @MileValueAlerts on Twitter and follow these directions to get a text message every time I tweet from that account. I tweet from @MileValueAlerts only a few times a month because it is designed to be used only for the best and most limited-time deals–like mistake fares–so that you aren’t bombarded by text messages.

TAP Portugal has got some incredible one-way, flat-bed Business Class fares right now between a few different western European cities and three east coast cities.

Fuel Surcharges No Longer Restricted in Brazil

Update 3/16/17: Looks like TAP made a mistake and is now in the process of retracting their fuel surcharges. I believe the ban on fuel surcharges in Brazil is actually still in place, check out this post written by a lawyer, blogger, and travel consultant for more info (it's in Portuguese so just use a translator).

The Brazilian government has decided to once again allow fuel surcharges on flights originating in Brazil.

TAP Portugal Flat Bed Business Class to Europe on Two New Routes

TAP Portugal currently flies from Lisbon to three different destinations in the United States: Miami, Newark, and most recently to Boston. July 1, 2016 they will launch one more route that will fly between Lisbon and New York (JFK).

What's interesting about the two newest routes is that they are flying different planes than the old routes, with an enhanced Business Class product-- fully lie-flat beds and direct aisle access for every passenger.

The Best Award Space to Europe this August

I've already written about last second award space to Europe and to Asia this summer. The gist is that some airlines release unsold seats as award seats in the last few days or weeks before travel.

TAP Portugal does a bit of that on its three routes to the US, but it also has award space available in August to Europe in economy and business class, which is very scarce at the moment.
