I’ve always been a terrible photographer, which you might have noticed from my reviews of First Class flights, but I’ve enjoyed others’ photography more than any other visual art.

I finally decided to learn a bit about photography and bought myself a used full-frame DSLR and a good 50mm prime lens. This sets me up to do portrait photography of the interesting people I meet during my full-time travels.

I’m enjoying it so much that I’ll pick up a new lens next time I’m in the United States–Argentina camera prices are insane–so I can do more landscape shooting of the cool places I go.

I plan to learn things as needed. After I shot my first few friends and looked at the photos, I decided to start learning about Lightroom and Photoshop.

Night shooting in a rose garden for the first time with my camera. It can pick up an insane amount of light.

After I got some nasty shadows outside, I bought a reflector/diffuser and learned how to use them.

First attempt at portraiture. Untouched because I haven’t yet made my first attempt at photoshop.

When I want to shoot at night or inside, I’ll learn more about that.
