Today’s your last chance to register for JetBlue’s Mosaic status match and/or status challenge and so I’m bumping this post to the top of the blog!

Do you have status with Virgin America, Alaska, American, Delta, Southwest, or United? JetBlue wants to show you what you’re missing. Register here by August 14,2017 and JetBlue will match your status with their Mosaic Status through the rest of 2017 if you hold any of the following statuses.

  • Virgin America®: Elevate® Silver, Elevate® Gold
  • Alaska Airlines®: Mileage Plan™; MVP® Gold or MVP® Gold 75k
  • American Airlines®: AAdvantage Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro®, AAdvantage Executive Platinum®
  • Delta®: SkyMiles Medallion® Silver, Gold, Platinum or Diamond
  • Southwest Airlines®: Rapid Rewards® A-List Preferred or Companion Pass
  • United®: MileagePlus® Premier® Silver, Gold, Platinum or Premier1K®

You’ll need to provide proof of your status to register. JetBlue says that “Acceptable proof includes a copy of your statement or current credentials card”. You should receive an email notification from JetBlue once you’ve been approved.

Registering for a status match will also automatically enroll in you the status challenge JetBlue is also offering at the moment.

Mosaic Status Challenge

If you sign up here by August 14, 2017 and within 90 days of signing up earn 3,750 base flight points, you will earn Mosaic status through 2018. You earn base flight points by purchasing cash tickets flying JetBlue. Every dollar spent on the base fare (the total ticket price less taxes and fees) earns 3 base flight points, so you’d need to spend $1,250 on JetBlue flights to complete the challenge (not counting taxes and fees). You’ll also need to complete the flights within 90 days, as you don’t earn the points until after you’ve flown.

Read more here about what it normally takes to qualify for Mosaic status.

What Will I Get With Mosaic Status?

The pictogram only briefly mentions the upgrade discounts you receive as a Mosaic member.
The pictogram only briefly mentions the upgrade discounts you receive as a Mosaic member. One Mile at a Time explains this valuable perk in more detail.

Out of all the American carriers, I’ve enjoyed my flights on JetBlue more than any other airline for simple and important reasons: the snacks were better, the interior of their planes are modern and pleasant (more so than the often shabby legacy carriers), and most importantly, all have had free wifi that actually worked, well. I also enjoy their branding and general attitude. The downside of JetBlue is their limited network.

If You’re Already Close to Mosaic Status, Ignore This Promotion

In the Status Match & Challenge in terms, it reads…

“If you qualify for the Mosaic Status Match, you will not be awarded 15,000 qualifying bonus points.”

So if you’re on the verge of qualifying, I wouldn’t bother with the Status Match.

One Mile at a Time thinks that qualifying for Mosaic status via the Status Challenge also means you won’t earn the 15k bonus points, and he may be right… but I don’t see a reference to that anywhere in the terms. To me it appears that if you complete the Status Challenge without any prior Status Match, you’ll still earn the 15k bonus points. If anyone knows more, let us know in the comments.

Bottom Line

Register here to match your Virgin America, Alaska, American, Delta, Southwest, or United status to JetBlue Mosaic status and enjoy free benefits through the rest of 2017. You will be automatically enrolled in the Mosaic status challenge if you qualify for the the status match.

Don’t have a matchable status? Register here to enter the Mosaic Status Challenge. You’ll have 90 days to spend $1,250 on JetBlue flights (not including taxes and fees). Doing so will qualify you for the Mosaic status through 2018.

It’s a no brainer to match with Mosaic status if you already have one with a competitor and weren’t otherwise close to acheiving Mosaic status. Whether or not to complete the status challenge will depend on how often you fly JetBlue’s routes.
