I wanted to put something out quickly about my recent experience flying Lufthansa First Class for 40,000 points. A full trip report will follow.

My experience started Thursday at 6 AM at the Munich Airport, where I only had about 15 minutes in the First Class Lounge before my 7 AM flight to Frankfurt. The entire lounge was decked out for Oktoberfest.

The employees wore Lufthansa dirndls, and even the rubber duckies were in on the fun.

After a short hop to Frankfurt, I was picked up at my plane and driven to the terminal.

But it wasn’t the First Class Terminal, so I had to walk there myself and re-clear security. I had five, mostly disappointing hours in the First Class Terminal. First, there weren’t any free seats in the dining area. Then both nap rooms were full (why are there only two!?). Then I got the last of three sleeper chairs, which don’t go fully flat, and mine was broken, so it wouldn’t recline at all. Finally when I went to the Cigar Lounge, I was told that, as of a few months ago, Lufthansa doesn’t provide cigars.

At least the food was delicious, especially the Tom Ka Gai (Thai Coconut Chicken Soup) and my steak.

And I took a bubble bath with a souvenir silver ducky.

When it was time for the flight, a Porsche whisked me plane side.

I was exhausted, so I quickly went from a suit to pajamas.

As I said, the full trip report of the First Class Terminal and First Class flight will run soon. Leave a comment if there’s something you specifically want me to include in those posts.
