How to Combine US Airways Promotions to Get Two Tickets to Europe for $284 Each

There are currently four stackable promotions related to US Airways miles.

Barclay’s offering US Airways Offering Cardholders up to 50% Back on Redeemed Miles

Barclay's is offering US Airways Premier World MasterCard holders up to a 50% rebate on redeemed miles between and November 30, 2013 up to a maximum of 30,000 rebated miles!

This is an incredible deal, and complements Monday's Share Miles deal that I called "the best opportunity to buy miles all year."

Are you eligible for a 50% rebate on your US Airways awards?

Analysis of the US Airways Card “New Benefits” Email

US Airways emailed me the following yesterday:

It's some slick marketing, but I won't be taking advantage of any of the "new" benefits. I have a US Airways Premier World MasterCard, so you'd think I'd be excited, but I'm not.

Why won't I be taking advantage of any of these generous-seeming new benefits? Let's go through the "additional travel benefits":

Zone 2 Boarding and First Class Check In: While nice, these aren't new and have been benefits of the card for a while.

How to Get 10 Nights in Hawaii and First Class Flights for Free

This post will explain how a couple can get 10 nights for free at a top-tier hotel in Hawaii plus First Class roundtrip flights all for about $150 per person total.

You Don’t Need to Be a Hub Captive When Collecting Miles

I think it's a big mistake to be a hub-captive. There's no reason that the credit cards you open have to be related to the dominant carrier at your airport.

Your life will be better if you instead open up the best card for the trip you want regardless of the airline that dominates your home airport.

Why should you ignore your hubby?

Imagine someone in Atlanta who wants to visit Buenos Aires.

Delta is the dominant carrier at ATL, and the only one with a direct flight to Buenos Aires.

The Best Award Space to Europe this August

I've already written about last second award space to Europe and to Asia this summer. The gist is that some airlines release unsold seats as award seats in the last few days or weeks before travel.

TAP Portugal does a bit of that on its three routes to the US, but it also has award space available in August to Europe in economy and business class, which is very scarce at the moment.

What I’d Least Like to See Changed about Each Frequent Flyer Program

United scared me a lot on Friday when it tweeted that changes were coming to MileagePlus.

United still hasn't told us what those changes are, but insists we'll like them.

It's very unlikely I'll like them much. It could be a minor enhancement, but there are very few things I would change about United MileagePlus that United would also change.
