———————————————————————————-

I just got an email from Barclaycard with the subject “Earn bonus award miles in three easy ways!”

The email gave me three new 3x category bonuses for my Lufthansa Premier Miles & More World MasterCard® for January 1 – March 31, 2014.

The email explained that after activating the promotion by January 20, 2014, I’d earn 2 bonus miles per dollar for grocery store purchases, movie theater purchases, and utility payments from January 1 – March 31, 2014 up to a total of 2,500 bonus miles.

I already earn 1 mile per dollar at all those places, so this promotion bumps me to 3 miles per dollar for my first $1,250 in spending.

To activate, I clicked the Activate Now button in the email and checked a box on the next web page.

I received immediate confirmation of my enrollment on the web page, then an email a few minutes later.

Other Barclaycard Offers

All three previous offers on Barclaycards are better, but it’s just nice to get a new promo!

My Plan

I will spend $1,250 at grocery stores in the first quarter of 2014 to get my full 2,500 bonus miles. A 3x return at grocery stores is solid. It’s not as good as the 6% cash back at grocery stores on the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express, but I don’t have that card yet.

Targeted?

I assume this offer was targeted and some cardholders will get different bonus categories and possibly different bonus amounts. Please share your bonus offer in the comments.

Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

Just getting started in the world of points and miles? The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the best card for you to start with.

With a bonus of 60,000 points after $4,000 spend in the first 3 months, 5x points on travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal and 3x points on restaurants, streaming services, and online groceries (excluding Target, Walmart, and wholesale clubs), this card truly cannot be beat for getting started!
