The United Explorer Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card, and the World of Hyatt Credit Card all have temporarily elevated sign up bonus offers that end or drop this week.
All of these cards’ bonus offers are lucrative in their own right, depending on the kind of travel you are planning for.
|Credit Card||Current Offer||Current Offer End Date|
|United Explorer Card||40,000 United miles for spending $2,000 within the first 3 months; 25,000 additional United miles for spending a total of $10,000 within the first six months||1/8/19 (tomorrow)|

What makes the 60k offer even sweeter is that it has no annual fee the first year. Most increased offers for this card don’t waive the $95 annual fee.
The standard offer for this card is typically 30k United miles for spending $1,000 within three months of account opening. Sometimes you will find an elevated sign up bonus higher than the standard 30k offer by logging into your United MileagePlus account, so don’t forget to check there.
WHAT UNITED MILES ARE GOOD FOR: United Mileage Plus’ biggest strengths areeconomy and United (not Star Alliance, which tend to be overpriced) Business Class awards are fairly priced and there is a good deal of award space compared to other programs. There are never any fuel surcharges on United awards, searching for award space and booking is easy, and you often can avoid the close-in booking fee.
World of Hyatt Card
60,000 Hyatt points is enough for three free nights at a Category 5 property, like the Grand Hyatt Singapore….
…four free nights at a Category 4 like the Hyatt Place Park City, or five free nights at a Category 3 like the Grand Hyatt Bali.
According to the Points Guy, the 60k bonus is dropping to 50k Hyatt points come January 10.
WHAT HYATT POINTS ARE GOOD FOR: I’ve seen higher values per point redeeming Hyatt and SPG (now Marriott) points than I have any other kinds of hotel points. Marriott may have the biggest footprint in the world, but Hyatt has some gorgeous properties–more than 700 total–in more than 50 countries. Not to mention Ultimate Rewards transfer to Hyatt so their points are pretty easy to accumulate.
The beginning of the year is the best time to earn the Southwest Companion Pass–a free ride for your companion of choice–as you get to keep it for the calendar year you earn it as well as the following. There are two primary ways to earn the Southwest Companion Pass: fly 100 paid segments or open two credit cards. Obviously the second way is a lot cheaper than the first, unless your company is paying for the travel. The Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Credit Card comes with 60,000 Rapid Rewards for spending $3,000 on the card within three months of account opening. Pair that with one of the 60k bonuses from one consumer card and you’ve got yourself lots of points as well as a free ride for up to seven different companions over the course of 2019 and 2020.
WHAT SOUTHWEST POINTS ARE GOOD FOR: Domestic travel. And earning the Companion Pass, which is considered to be the best deal in domestic travel and one of the best deals in travel in general.
If you were considering any of these credit cards, now is the time to act. The 65k bonus for the United Explorer Card drops from a 65k to a likely 30k bonus tomorrow (January 8), all three Southwest consumer cards drop from 60k to likely 40k bonuses January 9, and the World of Hyatt card drops from a 60k to a 50k bonus on January 10.
