Priority Pass recently added the Turkish Airlines Lounge at Washington Dulles (IAD) to its network. Priority Pass Select membership (access to all Priority Pass lounges except United Clubs) is a key benefit of all high annual fee cards cards, including the Platinum Card® from American Express, and Chase Sapphire Reserve®.

Here’s a comparison of those three cards.

Last week, I had a two hour layover at Dulles on my way from Honolulu to Charlottesville, Virginia, a $767 ticket that I got for 17,500 miles.

The Turkish Airlines lounge, located near gate B43, was near-ish to my departure gate, so I gave it a look.

At the check in desk, I presented my Priority Pass card and was admitted. On the desk, there was a Turkish snack that wasn’t labeled, and I didn’t ask. Anyone?

Upon entering, I immediately noticed that the lounge was small, but elegantly decorated with leather, mirrors, marble, and Turkish Airlines replica planes.

One wall had several muted television monitors behind public computers, and another entire wall was a window with a view of the tarmac.

When I arrived at 7 AM, the lounge was fairly empty with just a few other parties spread throughout. I believe they were passengers on morning Avianca, Copa, and ANA flights as those Star Alliance partner flights were the only ones on the flight information monitors.

I put my things down and surveyed the buffet.

There were fruits, pastries, and snacks available.

I made myself a plate of fruits, cheese, and crackers. Everything was good, and the strawberries were particularly delicious.

I started to use the lounge’s wifi which was adequate. While I worked, hot items were added to the buffet, including scrambled eggs and another egg-based dish…

…miso soup…
…and salmon nigiri.

I didn’t try these dishes, but they looked good.

After an hour and a half, I headed to the commuter gates and boarded my 20 minute flight southwest.

Bottom Line

The Turkish Airlines lounge at Washington Dulles is a very nice Priority Pass lounge option. It has hot food all day as well as fresh fruit, several cheese options, and plenty of snack choices.

It has coffee, soft drinks, and alcohol.

The wifi is free and fine.

I’d recommend it over the nearby AirFrance/KLM lounge.
