Tuscany Trip Report: Part III

Today I'm going to wrap up a trip report I started with you guys back in January, on a three week adventure through Tuscany with my boyfriend and parents. If you haven't read Parts I and II, I recommend doing so before reading today's post.

Tuscany Trip Report: Part III (this post)

I took too long in general to write this trip report, as it's now March and I took this trip in September. Life gets in the way sometimes.

Tuscany Trip Report: Part II

I left off with my family and I driving south from Tuscany towards Pienza. Our route was scenic and not direct on purpose. You can take the highways to get places faster but why do so when half the enjoyment in this part of Italy are the drives?

If you haven't, read Part I of this trip report before continuing below. I thought this would be a two-part series, but I underestimated how much I have to say about Tuscany... so lucky you as there will be three installments instead of two. Today, Pienza and the surrounding area.

Tuscany Trip Report: Part I

Two summers ago I spent a month in Italy, primarily on the Adriatic coast, and told you all about it in a series of trip reports:

The coast of Puglia's stunning waters. Spiaggia de Porto Verde.

I went back to Italy last summer, this time with my boyfriend and parents.

I’m Back! Preview of Tuscany Trip Report

Hey everyone! It's been a while since you've heard from me as I just took a three week trip in Italy with my parents and boyfriend.

Below is a little taste of what my September looked like.

Our first destination was Fatorria di Maino, a hotel on an olive oil farm in the hills overlooking Florence.

Trip Report: Puglia (Apulia) Italy Part III

At the conclusion of June I rented a car and drove south down the Adriatic coast of Italy. In English, the region I explored is called Apulia.

Trip Report: Puglia (Apulia) Italy Part II

At the conclusion of June I rented a car and drove south down the Adriatic coast of Italy. In English, the region I explored is called Apulia. Italians call it Puglia.

The region's white washed ancient architecture, sprawling groves of olive trees dotted with repurposed farm houses, cliff and rock formations, sandy white beaches, and abundant produce alchemize to form a truly enchanting atmosphere.

At the conclusion of June I rented a car and drove south down the Adriatic coast of Italy. In English, the region I explored is called Apulia, also known as Puglia.

I started traveling around Europe in late May and had plans through mid June that took me from Spain, to Portugal, Ireland, and then finally Rome. I asked your advice for a two week hole in my agenda after Rome and before Norway, and those of you that mentioned Italy recommended the Amalfi coast and/or Cinque Terre.

Taking the Jadrolinija Ferry from Bari, Italy to Dubrovnik

Last week I took an overnight ferry from Bari, Italy to Dubrovnik, Croatia. I'm pretty sure Jadrolinija is the only ferry line that connects passengers between the two regions. There is a serious lack of information available online, however, about the process of booking, boarding, logistics, and generally what to expect so I figured I'd share my experience for anyone out there googling with the hope of finding clarity.

Bari is the gateway city to the Puglia region with the busiest airport in southern Italy.
