All About Alaska: 5 Promotions to Earn Easy Miles!

1019

Alaska Mileage Plan’s marketing team has been busy. That’s good news for us, as it means it’s easy to earn a lot of bonus miles right now.

  • Earn Double Miles on Almost 50 Routes
  • Dash for Miles Challenge
    • MileagePlan Dining Bonus
    • Back to School Shopping Portal Bonus
    • The Opinion Terminal Survey Bonus

There’s even a 150k Alaska miles giveaway tied into completing a survey in the opinion terminal!

You must register for all of them (less the giveaway) prior to any other action to qualify for each’s bonus miles. I’ll go over and include important links for each below.

Earn Double Miles on Almost 50 Routes

If you fly Alaska between any of the following cities between September 1, 2017, and February 28, 2018, you will earn double the amount of redeemable Alaska miles you’d usually earn. There’s no deadline on when you have to book by, just fly by.

Register here for the Double Miles promo by January 31, 2018 at the latest.

The next three promotions are technically tied into one. Alaska’s calling it the Dash for Miles Challenge.

Dash for Miles Challenge

Register here by entering your Alaska Mileage Plan number and you can earn bonus miles via purchases you’d already make on restaurants, back to school shopping, and completing an easy survey.

Mileage Plan Dining

Open a new Alaska Mileage Plan Dining account by August 31, 2017, spend at least $30, and complete a review of where you ate within 30 days and you’ll earn 1,000 bonus Alaska miles.

Then you’ll get an additional 1,000 bonus mile for dining anywhere in Alaska’s Mileage Plan dining network by September 30, 2017 for the Dash for Miles Challenge, for a total of 2k miles on top of the usual bonus for dining!

Make sure you agree to receiving emails from Mileage Plan Dining otherwise you won’t earn the bonus.

Register for Mileage Plan Dining here.

Mileage Plan Shopping

If you make a purchase through the Alaska’s shopping portal through September 30, 2017, you’ll earn 1,000 bonus miles through the Dash for Miles Challenge.

And if you have any shopping to do at retailers that might qualify as “back-to-school shopping”, like…

…then you could earn even more miles. It’s not surprising Alaska is offering a bonus for back-to-school shopping through their portal as all the other major American carriers are already running back-to-school shopping portal promotions.

If you spend $125 through their portal at select retailers, you’ll earn 300 bonus miles. If you spend $350, you’ll earn 1,000 bonus miles. You don’t need to spend $125 or $350 in one transaction, you’ll still earn a bonus even if that amount is accumulated over multiple transactions. Only purchases though August 18 at 11:59 pm ET count for the Back-to-School bonus.

If you maxed out the back-to-school shopping bonus, then you’d earn 1,000 miles for that as well as 1,000 for the Dash for Miles Challenge on top of the usual shopping portal bonus!

Shop for back-to-school purchases through Mileage Plan shopping here.

The Opinion Terminal Survey Bonus

You’ll get 400 miles for completing a survey at any point, but if you complete it by August 31, 2017, you’ll earn the 1,000 bonus miles for the Dash for Miles Challenge. That’s 1,400 miles.

Register with the Opinion Terminal here.

150k Alaska Mile Giveaway

Strangely this is not marketed anywhere else that I see but in the Terms and Conditions of the Opinion Terminal is information about a 150,000 mile giveaway. You are entered automatically after completing the survey by August 31, 2017 in the Opinion Terminal.

I’m not sure why you’d want to as it requires more effort, but you can also enter the giveaway by writing your name, address, telephone number, email address, and birthday on a 3″ x 5″ piece of paper or index card and mailing it to:

  •  The Opinion Terminal August 150,000 Mileage Plan miles Sweepstakes c/o Survey Sampling International, LLC, 6 Research Drive, Shelton, Connecticut 06484 USA, Attention: VP, ASE North America.

Bottom Line

Make sure you register for each of these promotions before completing the first transaction (if one is required). Bonus miles should hit no later than six weeks after the qualifying transaction.
