Are You Targeted to Earn Up to 2,500 Bonus US Airways Miles?

The US Airways Premier World MasterCard is offering me 5 miles per dollar at grocery stores, drug stores, and electronic stores for the next three months via a targeted email. Check your inbox for the same or a similar offer.

What offer did I get?

I just got the following email:

I quickly clicked the Activate button and got this message:

It seems like the US Airways Premier World MasterCard is constantly running promotions. Most people who get the card seem to be offered 15k bonus miles to spend $750 per month on the card over three straight months, and we saw a similar promotion to the current one for January to March.

During that promotion, the offers varied. People reported different categories and different category bonuses, up to 10x for some lucky people. If that’s the case this time, mine looks good but average. Here are my terms and conditions:

My terms say I will earn “5 bonus miles” per dollar spent. Since I already earn 1 mile per dollar spent, I understand this to mean I will get 6 US Airways per dollar spent at grocery stores, drug stores, and electronic stores. The maximum bonus miles I can earn are 2,500, which would be $500 worth of spending.

That means one $500 gift card would be 3,000 US Airways miles, which I value at about $60, or about a 12% rebate.

What other offers have people received? Did I luck out or did you get a better offer?

To take advantage of future US Airways card offers–and to get 30k US Airways miles before the card disappears during the merger with American Airlines–consider the US Airways Premier World MasterCard with 30,000 US Airways miles after first purchase.

  • Earn up to 40,000 bonus miles on qualifying transactions
  • EXCLUSIVE: Redeem flights for 5,000 fewer miles
  • Zone 2 boarding on every flight
  • Enjoy 2 miles per $1 spent on US Airways purchases
  • Earn 1 mile per $1 spent everywhere else
  • Annual companion certificate good for round-trip travel for up to 2 companions at $99 each, plus taxes and fees
  • First Class check-in
  • Please see terms and conditions for complete details

  1. how long did it takes for US Airways to post the miles after spendings are met ? I ve met the spending and the end of 3 months promo and yet to see the miles posted. called CS and told me to wait 8 weeks.

  2. My husband had one 2nd quarter also, and today he got targeted for the same one you received.

His second US Airways card and my one card did not get targeted.

I always assumed it was 5x total, so 4 bonus miles on top of the one you already get like the Freedom. So for $500 in spend, you’ll get 2500 miles total.

  3. I got nothing, but I just got this card. I just completed a similar triple miles promotion with Alaska/BofA card which was grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations….

  4. Thank you for the heads up on this. I am on my 2nd US Airways MC and have never received one of these targeted offers. I called the bank today and the rep immediately applied the offer to my account. I will pick up one VR and cross my fingers for the points. For what it is worth, the rep offered to update my marketing preferences so that I would be more likely to get these offers in the future.

    • After completing my $500 spend, I called Barclays to confirm my bonus points were pending.

A supervisor I spoke with informed me that these targeted offers can not be manually added if I did not get the offer directly (so the previous rep I spoke with had been misinformed in saying he could apply the offer to my account).

After some discussion about “good faith” and “honoring promises”, the supervisor just gave me a 2500 points as courtesy adjustment.

  5. I got this offer on both of my US Air cards and a 3X offer on all purchases on my Platinum AA card on the same day…Ka Ching!
