$346 Open Jaw from Los Angeles to Copenhagen, Returning from Stockholm to Los Angeles

This is an open jaw itinerary, which means flying into one city and out of another. In this case, you need to book two one way, direct flights on Norwegian from Los Angeles to Copenhagen, Denmark and from Stockholm, Sweden to Los Angeles. The order matters.

You must book the itinerary as two one way awards because Norwegian doesn’t have a multi-city booking tool.

Sample Dates Los Angeles to Copenhagen on Norwegian: April 6, 13, 20, and 27

Sample Dates Stockhom to Los Angeles on Norwegian: April 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, and 28

Pay In Krone

The flights from Los Angeles to Denmark are cheapest in Norwegian Krone. Here is a direct link to the April 2016 results in Norwegian Krone. 1,294 NOK is $165.

Screen Shot 2015-06-26 at 6.21.03 PMThe flights from Stockholm to Los Angeles are cheapest in Swedish Krone. Here is a direct link to the April 2016 results in Swedish Krone. 1,499 SEK is $181.

Use Google Chrome to translate the page to English. Use Google to calculate the prices in dollars. Pay with a card with no foreign transaction fees. (If you don’t have a card with no foreign transaction fees, get one for next time. This time, price the itineraries in dollars.)

Extra Fees

All the cheapest fares are in the “Lowfare” bucket. That comes with one carry on that weighs up to 10 kg (22 lbs.) Check out my post on one bag travel.

Everything else costs extra.

Your first checked bag is 250 NOK/270 SEK ($32) each way. Your second is 300 NOK/320 SEK ($38). Similarly a seat reservation is $32 each way. If you want both a checked bag and a seat selection, pay extra for a “Lowfare+” fare instead of a “Lowfare” fare since the former comes with a checked bag and seat selection included.

The eat on board menu is limited, but you can preorder from a bigger selection.

All the add ons are expensive, so I suggest traveling with just one carry on, packing snacks, and taking whatever seat they give you for free. Then you can’t beat $346 to two amazing Scandinavian countries.

Why Copenhagen and Stockholm in Spring

I’ve only been to Copenhagen and Stockholm in the Summer. I had a fantastic blast biking around Copenhagen, which has two bike lanes on nearly every street. My friend and I set off for 20km out of the city and took the train back one day. In Stockholm, I loved walking along the water and all the parks. I’ve never seen a city so beautifully integrated with nature.

April is quite a bit colder with average highs around 50 degrees, but I think you can handle it.

I took a train from Copenhagen to Gothenburg, Sweden and from there to Stockholm after a few days. You can also take a direct train between the two capitals in about 5.5 hours for $35 to $60. Prices below are in SEK.
